Menorah Parade

It started in New York City, followed by Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and cities and towns throughout Israel.

Then it was introduced in Moscow, Hong Kong, Sydney and cities across the USA.  And then places like Omaha caught on: Charlotte, NC, Newtown, PA, Madison, WI.

Now we do it in Omaha as well!

What? Adorn your car with a rooftop Menorah for the Menorah parade. Gather at Boystown, near the Hall of History on Monday, December 6th, 3:30PM and proceed around town.

Imagine the excitement of your children and grandchildren as they ride down the main streets of Omaha with their parents proudly displaying their Jewish faith. Imagine the profound message and valuable legacy you will transmit by this experience.

Think of the many times throughout Jewish history that Jews were paraded in a very negative manner to the concentration camps, death camps, out of towns, cities, and shtetlach. Now, with G‑d’s gift of freedom, we have the opportunity to march proudly and share the  beautiful message of hope and light to our community and the world around us.

Dear friend. Do it for your self. Do it for your children and
grandchildren. Do it for the citizens of Omaha that will be inspired through this.

This Chanukah let’s proclaim Am Yisrael Chai! Share with the world proudly. And joyfully.

The common practice for all generations has been to light the menorah specifically at night facing the outdoors. It is the only mitzvah where we are instructed not to do inside the home, school, or shul, but to project to our neighbors lights and hopefully be inspired its the universal message.

Chanukah’s universal message? Light dispels darkness. A little bit goes a long way. Add a little light each night. Before long you accumulate a strong power.

The menorah parade is an opportunity to share the message of Chanukah with the widest possible audience.
