Chametz Sale Form

  • Don't Forget to Sell Your Chametz Before Passover!

The Torah forbids a Jew to own any chametz (bread, cake, beer, etc.) during Passover, so we sell all chametz (left after the search and burning) to a non-Jew, with a rabbi acting as our agent.

The non-Jewish buyer gives a small deposit, and the balance becomes a guaranteed loan. The sale of chametz transaction is legally binding, but the buyer may return it and retrieve his deposit. Since there are many legal intricacies involved in this sale, a rabbi acts as our agent both to sell the chametz to the non-Jew on the morning before Passover and also to buy it back the evening after Passover ends.

Place all chametz utensils in a specific room or closet(s) to be sold, sealed with tape or lock, until after Passover.

Please complete the form below. One form must be filled out for each member of your household.
